28 Days to Hormone Harmony
Have you seen your eating habits change over lockdown? Maybe you’ve noticed yourself snacking a bit more, or you're starting to snack when before you’ve had no problem getting from one meal to the next without feeling hungry. Or perhaps the boredom of being at home all the time as meant you’ve turned to certain types of food for comfort. For some its been eating more sugary foods, for others having that extra glass of wine. Or maybe you’ve been cutting back on your sleep, staying up later to watch another episode on Netflix. Whichever way your diet or lifestyle may have changed since we’ve gone into lockdown, if you feel like these changes are less than positive then maybe it’s time for a bit of a rethink.
Over the last 4 weeks I’ve been following a programme designed to reset my hormones. This couldn’t have come at a better time for me as I definitely noticed a few bad habits creeping in. The programme involved some work on my behalf getting used to a different way of eating, adding in new foods and restricting a few others, but I quickly got used to it and it soon became a daily habit. I found it really helped planning ahead what I was going to eat and getting in a bit of meal prepping.
Has it been worth it?
A definite yes. This programme helped me to take a step back and reassess my diet, eating habits and lifestyle. Once I focused more on what I was eating, I realised where unhealthy foods had been creeping in and it made it easier to make the changes.
What results have I noticed?
· I’ve definitely had more energy, no afternoon energy slumps or finding it hard to get out of bed in the morning.
· Better sleep – finding it easier to fall asleep and not waking up in the middle of the night.
· More balanced mood – feeling less irritated and more patient.
· No PMS – although I don’t suffer much with PMS I noticed this month that I had absolutely no symptoms.
· Weight loss- I managed to lose the lockdown weight gain and a few additional pounds; which was a nice bonus!
